INFORMATION FROM THE STADIUM

Dear Parents,
Bendigo Basketball Association is back at the Bendigo Stadium!
We are committed ensuring our safe return to the “Bendigo Basketball Family “and following all the
guidelines provided by the state government and Basketball Victoria. We will continue to closely
monitor and adapt as required.
We are thrilled to announce that the Round 1 fixture has now been released on the website

There have been some changes within divisions to accommodate small divisions, please make sure
you check the above or below grade for your original team entry.
This short winter season things will look a little different so please ensure you comply with all the
rules and regulations. We will be taking all the required measurements from Basketball Victoria and
state Government ensuring you all enjoy playing basketball in a safe environment.

Season Structure
This season there will be no grading, given this is a short season there is no time for a grading phase.
The junior competition will commence on Monday 13th July and will run for a total of 10 weeks, with
the 10th week being finals.

There will be new time slots this season as we need to allow time for cleaning after each game.
Time slots will be an hour and 10 minutes commencing at 4pm each night.
These time slots will be shared around as much as possible however please understand this is a
unique season and with less time slots and courts requests may not be met. When fixtures are
released there will be no variation due to the current situations.

Entry
Team and parents are not to arrive early as we lock the doors while games are being played.
Participants may line up to enter the stadium 10 minutes prior to their game. Once the game has
been completed, you must leave the stadium so that cleaning can commence for the next time slot
immediately. Everyone must leave after the game concludes as part of the new processes.
All participants entering must adhere to 1.5m social distancing rules whilst lining to enter the stadium
and also once they are in the stadium.
You will see all courts will be colour coded when entering the stadium. There will also be colour codedmarks on the ground, you MUST stay in your colour coded area upon entry.
As you enter the stadium you will be required to scan a QR code. This QR code will take you to a linkthat will require you to input your name, mobile number, and what court you are playing on or
spectating at for the night. This proof of scan must be shown to a biosafety officer on entry.
All children must be accompanied by parent/coach or team Manager to ensure processes are
followed due to COVID19. Please note as per orange 50 Guidelines with Basketball Victoria we
encourage 1 guardian per athlete.
Once you enter the stadium please use the sanitiser available at stations as you enter/exit. If there is
an overcrowded sanitiser station, please move to another station to allow for easy movement.
There will be a short video to help with the process on entering the stadium. This will have all
instructions in relation to entry and what is required from all stakeholders upon entry and also their
time a Bendigo Stadium.

Spectators
Each child may have 1 spectator/parent allowed with them, the spectator/parent must follow all
above guidelines and ensuring they scan in upon entry. Spectators must abide social distancing and
remain in allocation areas to watch the game. The short video will also assist to remain in the
allocated spectator area for their particular court whilst adhering to social distancing rules.

Scoring
All athletes MUST be registered into their team in Play HQ otherwise the athlete will not play.
We are using the Play HQ system and scoring will be done electronically to assist with cleaning
procedures before and after each game.
Sanitiser stations will be available next to each score bench for anyone who may require this.
All players and coaches must adhere to 1.5m social distancing on player benches

Game Rules
For this 2020 Winter Season all games will now have 18-minute halves, with the clock to stop in the
last minute of the second half. Under 10’s will remain at 16-minute halves.

There will be no shaking of hands before/during/after the match.
Individual Registration
All players must link to their team and pay the $7 Bendigo Basketball Association fee.

Player MUST register prior to their game commencement as this allows for a quick game start.
Basketball Victoria has now extended the player insurance by 4 months for players that have their
insurance expire on the 30/09/2020. Most players would be covered from the previous 2019-20
summer season.
Everyone player must register prior to playing, if they are not registered they will not be able to take
the court.
Team Payments
This season team payments will look a little different as we cannot take any cash payments as we are
doing our part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
All team game payments must be submitted online via the website.

It will be the sole responsibility of the manager to ensure game payments are submitted and up to
date on a weekly basis.
We understand that this is not ideal for some but as mentioned we are doing our part to protect the
wider community and have adopted a cashless process to ensure all safety measures are met.

COVID-19
If there is a COVID-19 case during the season, how this process will take place.
We will follow Victorian Chief Health Officer guidelines if there is case of COVID19.
Therefore, it is essential that everyone must be registered prior to the night of play and scan in on
entry to the venue. This will enable us to make the required notifications to patriots and government
if outbreak may occur.
We also encourage everyone entering the Bendigo stadium to download the government COVIDSafe
app government app for tracing capabilities.
